Marty Cooper, inventor of the cellphone
Robert Lloyd, visionary former CEO of Virgin Hyperloop One
Lawrence Levy, former CFO of Pixar and friend to Steve Jobs
These are just a few of the incredible individuals who have graced the stage of The Innovators, our annual event to celebrate Manitoba’s robust tech industry and innovation itself. This event is a place to connect with leaders, clients, and colleagues from across our innovation system over a delicious meal and a glass of wine.
Our featured guest for The Innovators’ ninth iteration is Alfredo Tan, Chief Digital and Innovation Officer for WestJet Airlines and Industry Professor at McMaster University. Tan is actively building a culture of innovation while transforming WestJet into a digital enterprise, drawing from his experience as part of the executive teams at Facebook and Instagram Canada. Tan was responsible for bringing these social media platforms to the Philippines, among many other accomplishments.
Tan’s talks reveal the values a company needs to truly embrace the future and stay ahead of changes in the tech landscape. He will stress that it’s time for your entire organization to champion innovation and welcome a new level of success.
More than a talk, The Innovators is a conversation. Whether you’re watching an experienced journalist interview our guest speaker on stage or picking the brains of some of the most important people in tech, you’ll walk away with a renewed curiosity and worldview.
Our host for the evening is Jon Erlichman, anchor of BNN Bloomberg’s morning program, The Open. He’s contributed to Fortune Magazine, The Wrap, CTV, ABC News, and interviewed everyone from actors (Robert DeNiro, Bob Odenkirk) to musicians (Charlie XCX, Ice Cube) and filmmakers (Jon Favreau, Jennifer Lee).
Erlichman has a background as a scoop-oriented reporter, an accomplished interviewer of top global CEOs, and a digital innovator.
