The world needs more women in tech. The sector is solving everyday issues and global scale problems. Tech’s changed our culture and community. It’s disrupted our work force, advanced the medical community, and made things easier and endlessly available. Besides the moral argument to veer from tech’s homogenous state, gender parity is good business.
TECH MANITOBA's worked for over a decade to encourage young girls and women to take part in tech and support women in these fields. The organization is proud to have an initiative dedicated to promoting equality in Manitoba’s tech sector. Maven is working with TECH MANITOBA members to tackle barriers and create more inclusive and diverse workplaces that attract, retain and advance women.
Through research and collaboration with the TECH MANITOBA community, Maven is developing a guide for Manitoba’s tech organizations. We’re striving to break down systemic barriers and change culture. The Maven Guide for Gender Parity will include a focus on inclusive hiring, closing the gender pay gap, setting goals and targets, broadcasting results, and advancing women in leadership roles.
The Maven community is built by people passionate about equality in tech. Maven hosts its own roundtables and events, and accepts community invitations, panels and workshops covering issues and themes surrounding gender parity. Maven’s Leadership Council and Maven Committee are volunteer groups committed to the initiative.
